PNJ

This exhibition began as an unsolved mystery when trying to understand video games beyond interactivity, imagining what hypothetically happens on the other side of the viewer, especially with non-playable characters or “NPCs”; that is, the rest of the inhabitants of virtual worlds that are not controlled by the player. The works presented conceive the object of video games as something that manifests its own agency and with a reality that exists isolated from our observation, what happens when we remove the human component? What do NPCs feel?

The show is punctuated by an animation which portrays a virtual world that has been abandoned by its players, the non-playable characters that inhabit it maintain a cyclical relationship with the space and economy of the virtual universe, all of them grind endlessly; they patrol from one place to another, eternally await the arrival of a player, mine resources, die and reappear constantly.
